How to Prepare for Ordering Monument Granite Etching

Most people think of just having letters and numbers etched on burial monuments. There are other options that you may not be aware of. In fact, you can have virtually any design or image etched into the monument that you would like. If you are planning on ordering a monument, and you want specific granite etching, there are a few ways to prepare for the consultation to discuss the process and what you want as an end result. Here are a few ways to prepare for the consultation.

Get Artist Renderings

Most of the granite etching professionals work from artist renderings to create the etching you want. This misconception is that the etching artisan is also an artist. Though this may be true in some cases, it is not true in all cases. For this reason, you should consider visiting an artist to have the final design you want to be created. The artist can give you a rendering suitable for the etching artist. This does not have to be professionally done. These options will also work if an artist can create the final drawing you want on the monument, or if you can create the image on a graphic design program.

Understand Colour Options

One of the choices you need to consider is if you want the final etching in colour or traditional granite. In some cases, you can find a monument and granite etching service that will create a colour version of the image you want. This is ideal if you want to have a colour background or landscape such as a beach soon, woodland scene, or image that was treasured by the person who will be immortalized on the monument. By going into the consultation knowing that you want colour you can move straight to that option rather than discussing options that will not meet your needs.

Check Out Stone Options

Many people do not realize that there are various stone options available. If you have a specific type of granite in mind for the etching, then let the monument artisan know this ahead of time. However, if you are open to different stone options, allow the artisan to show you the etchings you want on the different stone. They usually do this by using a graphics program that will show you what the final mock-up would look like before it goes on the stone.

These are just a few of the steps you can take to prepare for ordering a monument with personalized granite etching. If you have your plans and designs ready, contact your local granite and monument artisan. They will schedule a consultation and discuss your options. They can give you an estimate and schedule your order.
